Women normally gravitate toward males who are tall, gorgeous, well-built, and well-settled. After all, kissing while standing on your toes sounds more romantic than drooping your neck to look at his face.

In short (no pun intended), women seek men who ascertain the attractiveness of a potential partner before making a move or considering them for a life partner. For them, being physically attractive means that the man should look something like a Hemsworth brother – which means that short men usually don’t make the cut.

Short is a relative concept – and there’s nothing wrong with meeting a person who appears to be a little shorter than you. If you spend much time worrying about what others might think, you’ll never find peace – or, in this case, you may even miss out on a chance at love.

While physical characteristics are important, a great connection is even more crucial. Keep reading to find out some undeniable reasons why you should be dating a short guy.

1. Access to a Larger Dating Pool

Given the number of males who do not meet the ideal height criteria, considering shorter men as potential partners doubles your chances of finding the “right man.”

Looking at the figures, it’s clear that only 14% of males meet the “ideal” height criteria – meaning that around 86% of men never reach the 5’7″ mark – and thus, should be given an equal chance at proving why they would be an amazing (potential) partner.

2. “Size Matters”

Yes, they might be lacking in size in some areas – but they make up for it in others. Even the shortest men can have big hearts and larger-than-life personalities.

Also, there is no proven study that links height to the size of other things (if you catch our drift). Short men can perform just as well in the bedroom too.

3. He’s Confident

If your boyfriend is shorter than you, he’s probably a considerably more successful man than any other man out there. He’s unconcerned about what everyone has to say, and even if he does listen to them, he doesn’t let anyone hurt his ego.

He’s proud of you – and being your boyfriend means guaranteed bragging rights. If the height isn’t important to him, it shouldn’t be important to you either.

4. Kissing is Less Embarrassing

You’ll never have to go through the awkward staged moment of trying to figure out the right way to kiss your extremely tall boyfriend. Focusing on getting the position right means you can’t really savor the kiss – especially being on your tippy-toes while he’s stooped over at an odd angle.

When you date a guy who’s roughly the same height as you, a kiss can just be a kiss – with no need for stairs or a ladder.

5. You’ll Appear Taller

Most women like to appear taller than they are, and when you’re with a shorter dude, you can do it without putting in any extra effort! The best aspect about wearing heels is that you’ll feel like a supermodel standing next to him.

Take pictures with him, and see for yourself. The small difference in height can make both of you appear taller than you are.

6. You Have the Same Shelf Reach

While some may discount this perk as a con instead, having a boyfriend with roughly the same height as you can also have a practical benefit. Suppose he stacks your kitchen, and you need to reach the top shelf for snacks. Because he is just as tall as you, you can reach the same height he can – and easily grab what you’re looking for.

7. He’s Got Perspective on What’s Important

A short man has probably been bullied all his life and has had many jokes made at his expense – which is why most short guys you’ll meet have almost no insecurities and instead are focused on the more important things in life.

8. Cropping Pictures is Easy

Ever dated a guy who was so tall, he made taking cute pictures a nightmare? This giraffe of a boyfriend would never take good selfies, and all your photos would make you look like a dwarf compared to his long legs.

You can easily take pictures, mirror selfies, and even regular selfies without worrying about cropping half his face out with a short guy.

9. It’s Simpler to Be Intimate With Him

If you’ve ever been with a tall guy, you’ll understand how weird and unpleasant it may be to have impromptu make-out sessions. Cuddling with a small guy is a lot more pleasant, and it’ll be a lot more enjoyable to try out different sexual positions.

Because the alignment of your bodies is better in sync, it is easier to have sex with a short guy than one who has to try ten different positions before finding one that’s comfortable for you both.

10. If You’re Also Short, You’ll Have More in Common

When you date a short guy, he’ll be much more empathetic and tolerant of your height issues. If you’re short, his confidence might even rub off on you – and you’ll start seeing yourself in a more positive light.

11. He’s Less Awkward and More Self-Assured

Tall people attract a lot of attention – not because they’re particularly attractive, but also because of how uncomfortable they might appear. Short men have better posture since they tend to avoid stooping all the time.

Also, when a short man pursues a taller woman, it indicates that he is far more comfortable than the typical male, and doesn’t have any issues with his self-esteem.

12. You Can Go on Romantic Walks

Going for walks with a tall person can be exhausting because their legs are longer. When your lover is also short, you can both pleasantly walk at the same speed.

In fact, carrying an umbrella together isn’t at all unpleasant. Your elbows won’t be hitting one another, and you’ll both fit under the umbrella – like two peas in a rainy pod.

13. You Don’t Have to Compete for Legroom

Going to restaurants and packed pubs with a tall person might be awkward, especially if your lover accidentally kicks you beneath the table while hunting for extra legroom. You won’t have to worry about finding additional legroom with a short boyfriend.

He takes up just as much space as you.

14. You Can Wear His Clothes

Girls enjoy dressing up in their boyfriend’s outfits, and with a short boyfriend, you can simply try on his T-shirts and still look hot!

Most girls who try on outfits of their taller boyfriends tend to look untidy or frumpy. When you wear your short boyfriend’s clothes, they’ll fit you better – and also give you that sexy, comfy look we’re all yearning to pull off.

15. They’re More Likely to Stay Married for a Long Time

According to one study, shorter men not only live longer lives, but their marriages also last longer than tall guys. Aside from that, researchers have discovered that short men have more sex than tall men.

If sex, marriage, and long healthy lives are all things you’re looking for, then a short man might just be the man of your dreams.

16. Adjusting Your Seat in the Car is Easy

If you share a car with your boyfriend, this perk is for you. Consider it this way: If you were sharing a car with your taller boyfriend, he’d constantly adjust the driver’s seat to give him more leg space, and vise versa.

This might be okay in the short run but might become a hassle when you’re running late and can’t reach the brakes.

At this point, a taller guy seems like a safety hazard too.

17. Shorter Males are More Adaptable

When compared to taller guys, shorter men are more accommodating. They’ll try to make up for their “shorter” stature in whatever way they can.

Because they feel like compensating for their lack of height, shorter men tend to help more around the house, shop for groceries, do the laundry, and just be a better overall partner.

18. It Demonstrates Your Maturity

Your ability to look past the superficial by dating a guy shorter than you are really showing your level of maturity. It shows that you’re not shallow enough to date or reject a person solely because of their appearance, and more specifically, their height.

19. They’re More Invested in the Relationship

According to studies, shorter men work a lot harder to wow their partners in terms of personality – and you’ll never have to argue about his lack of aid in housework-sharing because they devote more to housekeeping than their “taller” peers.

In fact, shorter men were 32% less likely to divorce. What else could you want?

20. Lesser Financial Difficulties

According to Medical Daily, 79 percent of men who are shorter than their partners have greater wages. This means not only is this man ideal in bed, an incredibly receptive partner, and a great person to spend your life with, he’s also probably loaded!

There really isn’t much else to say about how great it is to date shorter guys.

Tips for Dating a Shorter Guy

If your dates with your “ideal men” aren’t going smoothly, try dating someone you don’t consider ideal. Getting out of your normal routine and dating this guy might be difficult, but you could discover your blissfully ever after from the most unexpected source.

Here are some pointers if you’re thinking about dating a short guy:

  1. Start at the beginning.

Try ignoring the “height requirements” on dating websites. If you’re having a wonderful conversation, a few inches shorter won’t hurt.

  1. Consider your insecurities.

If you want to be with a taller guy because his height makes you feel safe, you should reconsider. Height doesn’t ensure protection – and being short doesn’t imply that he can’t protect you.

  1. Be at ease, and make him feel at ease.

Try not to wear heels on the first date, especially if it would make you taller than him. It might give off the wrong message and not be worthwhile in the grand scheme of things.

  1. Don’t make jokes about his height.

In dating and in life, it’s best to be empathetic. Don’t joke about his height on the first date, even if you think it’s harmless. It’s best to first see his tolerance for such jokes and his sense of humor. Hurting someone is not the best way to start a relationship.

  1. If you’re unsure about your feelings towards him, wait it out.

If you’re feeling uncertain about how you feel, don’t make the decision in the heat of the moment. Get to know him first. He might be a better fit for you than your taller partners.

  1. Height is just a number.

Look for the positive aspects in him: his charisma, intelligence, and compassion would more than make up for his short stature in the long run – and remember: if he makes you laugh and makes you feel like the most precious person in the world, does it matter what his height is?

The Bottom Line

Every relationship has advantages and disadvantages and dating a shorter guy might be challenging because society usually judges people based on appearances. When it comes to dating, someone’s physical appearance should be the last thing on your mind.

People claim that love is blind, but people are typically not – and they make you conscious of your flaws with their cruel words.

However, you can overcome the stigma of dating shorter men by remaining confident and steady. Whatever others think or say, if the love of your life is a few inches shorter than you, you should strive to make it work.
